We're Rob and Jill — a husband-and-wife team who've been photographing families around St. Augustine since 2014. We're parents and St. Augustine locals, and after more than a decade we still chase this city's light: the way it pours through the oak canopies and glows off the old coquina walls.
Our approach is easygoing and documentary. Rob sees light and angles like the engineer he used to be; Jill reads the room and knows just when you need a quiet minute. We're there to capture your day the way it actually feels — the belly laughs, the happy tears, the small in-between moments — not to stage it.

Golden hour — the 1-2 hours before sunset — gives the best light for beach family photography. Soft sun, warm tones, and no squinting. What to expect: sand, wind, kids running toward the water, and gorgeous results. We get the posed portraits you need and the candid scenes you'll treasure.
Visiting on vacation? We work around your schedule and can meet your family at the beach, your rental, or your hotel. Many families book us as part of their St. Augustine trip.

Style Guide
Coordinated tones, not matching outfits
The best color schemes for family photos are coordinated tones — not matching outfits. Start with one person's outfit (usually mom's dress) and build complementary pieces around it, mixing 2-3 colors with neutrals.
A classic family photo combo. White tops with jeans or khakis — timeless, clean, and pops against sand and water. Add variety with rolled sleeves, different shades of denim, or a linen texture.
Cream, beige, taupe, and light gray with warm accents like rust, burnt orange, or mustard. Earth tones balance the cool blues of the ocean and look beautiful at golden hour.
Dusty rose, sage green, light blue, and muted lavender. Coordinating pastels harmonize with the sky and water without competing. Keep patterns minimal — let the colors do the work.
Skip neon, busy patterns, and large logos — they pull attention from faces. Don't go all-blue (you'll blend into the ocean). And avoid everyone wearing the exact same thing — coordinated always looks better than matching.

Not a beach crowd? Downtown St. Augustine offers cobblestone streets, Spanish architecture, and shaded courtyards. We love the Lightner Museum, Flagler College, and Aviles Street. Morning light works best.
Grandparents visiting, milestone celebrations, getting everyone in one frame — including the person who usually holds the camera. We've organized groups of 30+ and know how to get the full group, then break into smaller combos: grandparents with grandkids, siblings, cousins.

We shoot at locations that match your personality (beach, downtown, your high school, somewhere that matters to you), guide posing without over-directing, and keep the camera moving so the moments feel natural.

Natural, lifestyle newborn sessions in your home
As your St. Augustine newborn photographer, we keep these early days natural and lifestyle-focused — no stiff studio posing, no elaborate props, no expecting a days-old baby to perform. Just real moments in your home using natural window light: baby with parents, siblings meeting the new arrival, the nursery you prepared, and the tiny fingers and sleepy expressions you want to remember.
As a husband-and-wife team, we've photographed hundreds of newborns and bring calm energy to an already overwhelming time — no need to leave the house with a days-old baby. Sessions are best booked for the first couple of weeks.

Tell us what you're looking for — beach, downtown, backyard, whatever feels right. We'll check availability and talk through the best options for your family.
Once you book, we'll send you an outfit guide and a prep checklist. We'll nail down the location, the time of day, and a plan for keeping things low-stress — especially with little ones.
We handle the kids, the posing, and the light. You just show up and be yourselves. Sessions typically run about 60 minutes, and we mix candid moments with a few classic portraits.

Each spot suits a different look. Beaches give you wide horizons, soft afternoon light, and barefoot-in-the-sand portraits — perfect for younger kids who do better unstructured. Anastasia State Park and Washington Oaks add tree canopy and shade for hot summer afternoons or families that prefer green over sand. Downtown St. Augustine works for couples and older families who want architectural variety: coquina walls, brick streets, and the bayfront. Crescent Beach is our quietest beach option, ideal for sessions that need privacy.

Common questions about family photography
Most shoots run 60-90 minutes, giving us plenty of time for different groupings and outfit changes if desired. Extended groups may run longer depending on size.
Kids are unpredictable—that's part of what makes them wonderful. We embrace the chaos and know how to work with wiggly toddlers and reluctant teenagers. Some of our best work comes from unscripted scenes. Relax and let them be kids.
Golden hour—the 1-2 hours before sunset—gives us the finest light. The sun is soft, the shadows are flattering, and the colors are gorgeous. We'll recommend exact timing based on the season.
For peak season (March-May and October-November), we recommend booking 3-4 weeks ahead. Mini shoots and holiday dates fill quickly—join our email list for early access. For off-peak times, we can often accommodate shorter notice.
Absolutely. If you're staying in a beach house or Airbnb with a great view, we're happy to come to you. Some love starting at their rental and walking to the beach. We'll make it work with your vacation schedule.
