St. Augustine Locals

We're a husband-and-wife St. Augustine engagement photographer team, and our approach is simple: make the session feel like a date. We give you prompts and movements—walk together, whisper something funny, slow dance—and let the real stuff happen in between. Our editing style leans natural and clean. Warm skin tones, real colors, nothing overly filtered.

How Your Engagement Session Works

From first call to final gallery

As your St Augustine engagement photographer, every session starts with a planning conversation — we talk about your style, your vision, and locations you have in mind. From there, we build the experience around you.

1 Reach Out

Tell us about yourselves and what you're envisioning — downtown, waterfront, or something else.

2 Consult

We brainstorm locations, timing, and what to wear for the best results.

3 Book

Reserve your date with a signed contract and small retainer.

4 Prep

We send a style guide and finalize the details so you're ready.

5 Session Day

We guide you through natural prompts — think date night, not awkward portraits.

6 Delivery

Gallery delivered within ~2 weeks. Plenty of time for save-the-dates.

Engagement Photo Locations in St. Augustine

Where to capture your love story

St. Augustine packs cobblestone alleys, Spanish colonial architecture, moss-draped live oaks, and Atlantic beaches into a few walkable miles. As experienced photographers in St. Augustine, FL, we'll match the spot to your style, the season, and the light — here are the ones couples come back to.

Lightner Museum Courtyard

Spanish Renaissance arches, a stone bridge over the koi pond, and soft, filtered light. The enclosed courtyard feels private and intimate — an easy place to settle in, even if you're nervous in front of the camera.

Plaza de la Constitución

The heart of downtown, with the Cathedral Basilica behind you and golden light down the side streets. Quintessentially St. Augustine — and unforgettable during Nights of Lights season.

St. Augustine Beach

Barefoot and relaxed, made for sunrise or sunset. Wide-open sand and the Atlantic give a softer, more candid feel than downtown — plan to get your feet wet.

Castillo de San Marcos

America's oldest masonry fort, with panoramic bay views and the Bridge of Lions nearby. The 17th-century coquina walls make a timeless backdrop and pair naturally with a downtown walk.

Washington Oaks Gardens

Formal gardens on one side, a dramatic coquina-rock beach on the other — two completely different looks in one quiet state park, away from the downtown crowds.

Magnolia Avenue

The famous canopy of ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Dappled light and timeless Southern charm — a short, classic stop we often pair with a nearby downtown spot.

Not sure which fits? We'll help you pick the right spot during our planning conversation.

Best Time of Year for Engagement Photos

Every season in St. Augustine has its own light

There's no wrong time for an engagement session here — but each season changes the light, the crowds, and the feel. Here's what to expect through the year.

Spring & Fall

Our favorite windows — comfortable temperatures, softer light, and long golden hours. These months book up fastest, so reach out early if you have a date in mind.

Nights of Lights (Nov–Jan)

Downtown glows with millions of white lights through the holiday season. We mix before-dark and after-dark frames so you get warm bokeh behind you — one of the most magical times to shoot in the historic district.

Summer

Lush and green, with the beaches at their best. We schedule around the heat — early morning or the hour before sunset — for soft light and smaller crowds.

When to Book Your Session

Flexibility for every timeline

Timing is flexible. Some couples book a year in advance, others a month before the wedding. If you want the photos for save-the-dates, aim for at least 3-4 months out. But there's no wrong time — whatever works for your schedule.

Sessions can be bundled with our St. Augustine wedding photography packages or booked separately. Either way, you'll walk into your ceremony already comfortable with your photographers and confident about being in front of the camera.

Many of our engagement clients are also wedding clients — having the same photographer through your whole journey means less stress when the big day arrives. We also photograph St. Augustine elopements for couples planning a more intimate Florida celebration, and offer anniversary photoshoots for couples who want to mark a year, five, or twenty-five with new portraits at the spots they love.

Whether you're planning a downtown stroll, a beach sunset, or a Nights of Lights holiday session, hiring a St Augustine engagement photographer who already knows the best spots and the best light saves your session day for the one thing that matters — the two of you, being a couple.

Engagement Session FAQ

Common questions about engagement sessions

There's no wrong time. Some couples book a year out, others a month before the wedding. If you want the images for save-the-dates, aim for at least 3-4 months before. But we're flexible—whatever works for your schedule.

We offer two options: a 30-minute session at one location, or a 1-hour session at two locations. The 30-minute session is great for couples who just need clean, simple portraits. The hour session gives you time for outfit changes, multiple spots, and more variety.

We'll send you a detailed style guide after booking. General advice: coordinate but don't match exactly, avoid busy patterns, and choose clothes you feel confident in. Bring a change of outfit if you want variety.

Almost everyone says this! We give you prompts and movements—walking, whispering something funny, slow dancing—so you're not just standing there stiffly. By the end, you'll forget the camera is there.

Absolutely. Pets are welcome at outdoor sessions. We've had dogs, cats, and even a parrot join us. Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Yes! We offer hidden proposal photography where we blend in and capture the moment. Many people book both—the proposal, then a full session later.
