Event Spaces at the White Room

The White Room is special in that you can have your event take place in one (or more) of three  unique spaces.

The Villa Blanca

A two story space that is bright and beautiful. The upstairs looks like a wedding chapel and the downstorms looks like a moder. ballroom.

The Rooftop and Loft

The Rooftop is the only wedding venue space in downtown St Augustine with a view of the bayfront. On the same level is the Loft which a beautiful banquet room with exposed brick and old beams. The kind of room that doesn't need to be dressed up to be beautiful.

The Ballroom

A giant Ballroom that is adorned with the largest hanging chandelier in down St. Augustine. Double doors open to a porch where guests can sit and enjoy a drink while looking out over the Bridge of Lions.

Pricing & Investment

The White Room offers wedding packages starting at $X, with most couples investing between $6k and $19k for their celebration. Here's what affects your investment:

  • Day of the week — Weekend rates are higher, with Friday and Sunday offering some savings
  • Season — Peak season (spring and fall) commands premium pricing
  • Guest count — Each space has different capacities and minimum requirements
  • Food & beverage selections — The White Room's incredible catering team offers various menu tiers
  • Venue space — The White Room's had three separate spaces (The Ballroom, The Roof and Loft, and the Villa Blanca) each with slightly different price points

Important Note
: It is difficult to compare The Whiteroom's pricing to other venues in downtown St. Augustine because you are getting more than an event space. Included in that pricing is food, beverage, coordination, and insurance.

Pro tip: Book your date early. The White Room's prime dates (especially Saturday evenings in peak season) fill up quickly, and early booking sometimes includes pricing protection against future increases.

Getting accurate pricing: Contact The White Room directly for current pricing based on your specific date, guest count, and preferences. Their team is excellent at working within different budgets to create something beautiful.

Best Photo Spots at The White Room

Some of my favorite portrait locations here are just steps away:

  • Champagne Courtyard on the property — charming and private for first looks.
  • Grand staircase — perfect for elegant, editorial-style portraits.
  • Bayfront & Bridge of Lions — unbeatable at sunset.

Tip: Golden hour on the bayfront is magic. If you can, plan your ceremony or portraits to catch the light just as the sun drops behind the buildings.

What's the best time for photos at The White Room?

The timing at The White Room depends on your ceremony schedule and photo priorities, but here are my recommendations:

For outdoor portraits and couple photos: The golden hour (roughly 1 hour before sunset) offers the most beautiful natural lighting on the bayfront near the Bridge of Lions. Early afternoon and late afternoon are perfect for pics in the courtyard and around the historic architecture.

For ceremony photos: If you're having an outdoor ceremony, late afternoon ceremonies  provide excellent natural lighting without harsh shadows. Indoor ceremonies in the main ballroom and Villa Blanca work well at any time due to the elegant chandeliers and ambient lighting.

For reception photos: The White Room's interior lighting is stunning for evening receptions. We work with the venue lighting (and any lighting that your DJ / Band are using) to make sure that the pictures make you and the venue look their best.

Crowd considerations: We know all of the perfect spots to help avoid downtown St. Augustine foot traffic. The White Room offers private spaces regardless of timing for days that are busier than usual.

Seasonal factors: Summer ceremonies work best in late afternoon to avoid midday heat, while winter allows for more flexibility with earlier golden hour timing.

My recommendation: Plan your ceremony 1 - 2 hours before sunset to maximize both ceremony lighting and golden hour portrait opportunities, with cocktail hour transitioning beautifully into evening reception photos.

Things to Know Before You Book at the White Room

  • Parking: The venue doesn’t have on-site parking, but nearby lots and garages work well. Renting the Trinity lot or hiring a trolley is a smart move for guest shuttles.
  • Weekend timing: Downtown St. Augustine can be busy — allow extra time in your schedule, especially if crossing the Bridge of Lions (it opens every 30 minutes at the top and bottom of the hour).
  • Multiple events: The White Room can host more than one event in a day. Work with the staff to coordinate spaces for portraits and avoid overlap.
  • Lighting quirks: In Villa Blanca, certain times of day have strong direct light. Turning off overheads in the getting ready spaces and leaning into the window light creates beautiful, natural images.

From a Photographer’s Perspective

The White Room is a photographer’s dream because there are gorgeous indoor options for any weather, plus easy access to some of St. Augustine’s most iconic backdrops. The staff is incredibly accommodating and helps keep timelines on track.

Some of my favorite moments here?

  • A private last dance on the rooftop in the rain — pure romance.
  • A joyful dip at the end of the aisle, with the guests cheering in the background is my favorite thing.

Pro tip for photographers: Connect with the White Room team ahead of time to confirm access to spaces you want for portraits. They’ll help manage the flow, especially if other events are happening.

Why We Love Working at the White Room

We photographed our very first wedding at The White Room and we learned so much from the staff there - like the value of putting the guest experience first and always having a solid backup plan in place. We have carried those lessons into the way we run my own business today.

The White Room also offers some truly one-of-a-kind photo spots — from the intimate Champagne Courtyard to the historic grand staircase. The staff is incredibly generous, often opening up spaces just so couples can get that one dream shot they’ve been envisioning for months.

FAQ | Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best photo locations at The White Room?

The White Room offers incredible versatility for wedding photography. The venue itself features three distinct spaces - the Grand Ballroom with its exposed brick and hardwood floors, the Villa Blanca ceremony space with crystal chandeliers and white walls, and the stunning Rooftop overlooking Matanzas Bay and the Bridge of Lions. Beyond the venue, you're in the heart of historic St. Augustine, giving us easy access to cobblestone streets, Spanish colonial architecture, and waterfront views. The marina directly adjacent to the venue provides gorgeous sunset portraits with sailboats as your backdrop.

How is the lighting at The White Room for indoor photography?

The White Room is a photographer's dream when it comes to natural light. The large windows throughout the venue flood the spaces with beautiful, soft light during daytime events. The Grand Ballroom's windows face the water, providing consistent, flattering light for getting ready photos and reception moments. However, for evening receptions, I always bring professional lighting equipment to ensure every moment is beautifully captured, especially during your first dance and other key reception events.

Are there any photography restrictions at The White Room?

The White Room is very photographer-friendly with minimal restrictions. The venue allows photography throughout all their spaces, including the rooftop area. During ceremonies in Villa Blanca, we work discreetly to capture your moments without disrupting the intimate atmosphere. The venue staff is experienced working with photographers and helps coordinate timeline logistics to ensure we get all the shots you want while keeping your day running smoothly.

Can we take photos on the historic streets around The White Room?

Absolutely! One of the biggest advantages of The White Room is its prime location in the heart of historic St. Augustine. We're steps away from iconic locations like the old city gates, narrow European-style streets, and historic architecture. I'm familiar with the best nearby spots that offer privacy and stunning backdrops. We can easily incorporate a quick walk around the historic area into your timeline without keeping your guests waiting.

Can you get married at The White Room year-round?

Absolutely! The different times of year bring awesome things for both your wedding and photos. We love the long days of summer, which tend to have more colorful sunsets perfect for those romantic bayfront portraits. The winter months are special when they coincide with St. Augustine's Nights of Lights celebration - imagine your wedding photos with thousands of twinkling lights as your backdrop!

Year-round, The White Room hosts beautiful weddings with amazing photo opportunities. Each season offers its own unique charm and photographic possibilities, making any time of year perfect for saying "I do" in historic St. Augustine.

What is the backup plan if it rains on the Rooftop?

If a rainy ceremony is a no-go for you the default backup space is the middle area between the Loft and the Rooftop. Depending on availability sometimes the ceremony space in the Villa Blanca can be used - both are beautiful options from a photography perspective!
