Studio Photography Guide
Studio sessions are by appointment — reach out and we'll find a time that works.
About Studio Sessions
Not every session needs cobblestone streets or a beach at sunset. Sometimes the best frame is a clean, controlled one — and that's what the studio is for. Our studio is based in St. Augustine, and it works two ways: you come to us, or we bring the studio to you. If it's easier to shoot at your office or place of business, we'll pack the kit, come to your space, and set the whole thing up there. Either way you get the same controlled, distraction-free session — no weather to watch, no crowds to work around, no waiting on the light.
"Studio" really means control rather than a single room. We can roll out a clean backdrop for a timeless, no-distractions look, or we can use the existing environment — your office, a textured wall, the space you're already in — when the surroundings add to the story. The same goes for light: we'll work with the available light when it's beautiful, or set up our own lighting when we want precise, repeatable, polished results. It's a flexible setup that bends to the subject instead of the other way around.
What to Expect
- Two ways to shoot: come to our St. Augustine studio, or we set up at your office or place of business. Whatever's easier for you.
- A relaxed start: there's an espresso machine in the studio, and pulling a shot to kick things off is honestly one of our favorite parts. Sessions go better when they start unhurried, with a coffee in hand and a few minutes to settle in — so that's how we like to begin.
- Backdrop or environment: a clean seamless backdrop for a classic, distraction-free look, or we use the room and surroundings when they add character.
- Available light or studio light: we read the space and choose — natural light when it's flattering, our own lighting when we want precise, consistent results.
- No weather, no crowds: a controlled, climate-comfortable space means a session that runs on schedule regardless of what the sky is doing outside.
What We Shoot in the Studio
The studio is built for the kind of work that benefits from a controlled setting:
- Portraits — individual and editorial-style portraits with clean, intentional lighting.
- Branding — personal-brand and professional headshots for people who need a polished, consistent look across their website and socials.
- Product — clean, well-lit product photography for shops, makers, and businesses.
- Composite — composite work where a controlled backdrop and repeatable lighting make the final blend seamless.
We've also photographed family sessions, portrait sessions, and senior sessions in the studio. If you've got an idea that fits a controlled space, it's worth asking — the setup is flexible enough to handle a lot.
How to Prep
- Bring options. A couple of outfit changes give us range without leaving the room — easy to switch looks against a backdrop in minutes.
- Keep wardrobe simple for portraits and branding. Solid colors and clean lines read beautifully against a seamless backdrop; busy patterns tend to fight for attention.
- For product or branding, bring the props that tell your story — the tools of your trade, packaging, or pieces that say what you do. We'll build the setups around them.
- Come ready to relax. Show up a few minutes early, grab an espresso, and let the session warm up before we get rolling.
