About Sawgrass Marriott
Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa
More details Less details
Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa sits on some of the most photographed golf courses in the world—home to TPC Sawgrass and the iconic 17th island green. For weddings, that translates to stunning backdrops of rolling greens, open Florida skies, and a resort that handles every detail.
What makes Sawgrass special for couples is how seamless the experience is. They provide everything—catering, parking, getting ready spaces, a rain backup plan, gorgeous outdoor ceremony space, and cocktail hour. You're not coordinating between vendors or worrying about logistics. You show up, and it just works.
I first met Ashley at her maid of honor's wedding years ago. She was an incredible bridesmaid, and we hit it off immediately. Five years later, I got to photograph her wedding to Craig right here at Sawgrass. Some things just come full circle.
Why We Love Photographing at Sawgrass Marriott
Those golf course greens are what we think about when we think about Sawgrass. The perfectly manicured fairways stretching out under wide-open Florida sky create a clean, uncluttered backdrop that makes couples the clear focus of every frame. In spring when the grass hits that electric green, or in fall when the sunset light turns everything gold, the images from these greens are some of our best work.
The outdoor ceremony lawn overlooking the course gives us a natural backdrop that needs no decoration. We position to shoot back toward the green with the sky filling the top of the frame, and the result looks like it belongs in a magazine. The scale of the setting - open sky, rolling landscape, long horizon line - creates a sense of space that indoor venues can't replicate.
Having everything on-site also helps us work more efficiently. No driving between locations, no coordinating with separate venue contacts. The bridal party gets ready in the resort, the ceremony is steps away, and the reception follows right after. That flow means we spend more time shooting and less time in transit.

The Golf Course Greens
My favorite spot at Sawgrass—those rolling greens with perfectly manicured fairways stretching into the distance. The open sky and clean lines make for stunning portraits, especially when the grass is that vibrant spring green or during fall's golden hour.

Spacious bridal suites with great lighting for those morning-of moments—hair, makeup, champagne, and all the anticipation.
Photographer Tips
Spring and Fall Are Prime Time
Spring brings those vibrant, electric greens that make the golf course pop. Fall delivers the best sunsets of the year. Both seasons photograph beautifully here.
It's All Right There
One of the best things about Sawgrass is that everything is included—catering, parking, getting ready spaces, rain backup, ceremony space, cocktail hour. No running between venues, no coordinating multiple vendors. It just works.
Golf Course Golden Hour
We'll build sunset time into your timeline. Those open greens with nothing but sky and that warm golden light? Worth every minute we steal from the reception.
Rain Backup Built In
Florida weather is unpredictable, but Sawgrass has you covered. Their indoor backup spaces mean you're never scrambling if storms roll through.

Planning Your Timeline at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa
We don't publish generic sample timelines because they're useless without knowing your wedding date. Here's why:
A 5pm ceremony works beautifully in summer but means portraits in the dark in winter. Your timeline needs to be built around your actual date and what matters most to you.
Light at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa
Resort setting with golf course and lagoon views. Multiple outdoor areas catch beautiful light throughout the day.
Time for Photos
We recommend 60-75 minutes for portraits at Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa, covering the resort grounds, golf course views, lagoon, and ballroom.
Timeline Strategies
Sunset Portraits
Want that golden hour magic? We work backwards from sunset. Ceremony ends 60-90 minutes before, giving time for family photos, couple portraits, and catching the best light.
Brunch or Daytime
Morning ceremonies and daytime receptions mean lots of beautiful natural light all day. Great for summer when afternoons can get pretty warm.
Venue Timing Notes
- Music curfew at 11pm
- Large resort—coordinate with event staff
