Why We Love Photographing at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club

The variety of backdrops here is unmatched. In one portrait session we move from the white sand of Ponte Vedra Beach to the manicured Ocean Course fairways, up to the rooftop, and through the resort grounds with tropical gardens and Spanish Colonial details. Each spot has its own light and character.

The Ocean Course greens are a personal favorite for portraits. The lines are clean, the grass is perfect, and when afternoon shadows stretch across the fairways, the depth is striking. Golf course portraits aren't for every couple—but at Ponte Vedra, even non-golfers see the appeal once they see the light on those greens.

The West Lawn catches gorgeous sunset light with its lagoon backdrop, and the Oceanfront Courtyard puts the Atlantic right behind your ceremony. The resort has been hosting weddings since 1928, and that experience shows in how smoothly the day runs. When logistics are handled, we focus entirely on the images.

Best Photo Locations

The Beach

Direct oceanfront access to pristine Ponte Vedra Beach. The powder-white sand and Atlantic waves create a timeless backdrop that's been photographed for nearly a century.

Oceanfront Courtyard

Stunning ocean views make this an ideal ceremony or cocktail hour location. The manicured courtyard accommodates up to 200 seated guests with the Atlantic as backdrop.

The West Lawn

A spectacular venue with a tranquil lagoon backdrop, perfect for sunset ceremonies. The open sky creates dramatic golden hour and twilight portraits.

The Ocean Golf Course

Manicured greens and fairways offer elegant portrait options. The Stockton & Lagoon Rooms open directly onto these stunning course views.

The Rooftop

An exceptional, private space with elevated views. Perfect for intimate ceremonies or dramatic portrait perspectives over the property.

South Lawn

Sweeping views of the first tee of the Ocean Course. Ideal for tented or open-air receptions and expansive group portraits.

Ponte Vedra Ballroom

The largest and most formal space, with elegant décor and classic architecture. Crystal chandeliers and refined details create sophisticated indoor portraits.

Resort Architecture

The Florida-style low-rise buildings feature custom artwork and award-winning design. The grounds offer variety from tropical gardens to Spanish Colonial details.

Photographer Tips

The Five-Diamond Difference

AAA Five-Diamond service since 1928 means every detail is handled. The Special Events Team has orchestrated weddings here for decades - you're in experienced hands.

262 Rooms = Your Own Village

With 262 rooms and suites, your entire guest list can stay on property. This creates a destination wedding feel even for local couples - everyone's together all weekend.

Sunset Timing is Critical

The West Lawn and beach face east, but the sky colors at sunset are spectacular. We'll time your ceremony to catch the golden light and then sneak to the beach for those Atlantic sunset reflections.

Use the Golf Course

The Ocean Course isn't just for golfers. The manicured fairways and greens create elegant portrait backdrops, especially in afternoon light when the shadows are dramatic.

In-House Everything

The resort handles catering, rentals, and coordination in-house. This streamlines planning and ensures everyone on your team knows the property intimately.

Scale to Your Vision

The rooftop holds intimate ceremonies for 30, while the Ponte Vedra Ballroom seats 500. The variety of spaces means you can customize exactly the wedding you envision.

Planning Your Timeline

We don't publish generic timelines. They're useless without knowing your date. Here's why:

December 5:30 PM sunset
June 8:30 PM sunset

A 5pm ceremony works great in summer. In winter, it means dark portraits. Your timeline must match your actual date and what matters most to you.

Lighting & Golden Hour

Natural light varies throughout the day. We recommend discussing specific timing based on your ceremony location and time of year.

Time for Photos

We recommend 45-60 minutes for portraits at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, covering the ceremony area, reception space, and grounds.

Timeline Strategies

Sunset Portraits

Want golden hour magic? We work backwards from sunset. End the ceremony 60-90 minutes before. That gives time for family photos, couple portraits, and the best light.

Brunch or Daytime

Morning ceremonies and daytime receptions mean good natural light all day. Great for summer when afternoons get warm.

Venue Timing Notes

  • Music curfew at Midnight (Fri/Sat), 11pm (Sun)

Get a Timeline Built for Your Day

Tell us your wedding date, ceremony time, and what moments matter most. We'll build a custom timeline around sunset, this venue's best light, and your priorities.
