Photographer Tips
Animals Add Magic (and Unpredictability)
The animals are the star attraction, but they're also unpredictable. We'll have backup locations if your favorite creature decides to hide - flexibility is key.
After-Hours is Worth It
Evening events mean quieter grounds and potentially more animal activity. The Land of the Tiger is only available after hours and is absolutely worth considering.
Work With Zoo Photographers
The zoo has guidelines to ensure animal safety. We'll coordinate with their team to get amazing shots while respecting these important boundaries.
Embrace the Uniqueness
This isn't a traditional venue - that's the point! Lean into the adventure. A giraffe in your wedding photos is something your guests will never forget.
Multiple Spaces, Many Options
The zoo offers numerous ceremony and reception combinations. Tour thoroughly to find the spaces that resonate with you.
Planning Your Timeline at Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens
We don't publish generic sample timelines because they're useless without knowing your wedding date. Here's why:
A 5pm ceremony works beautifully in summer but means portraits in the dark in winter. Your timeline needs to be built around your actual date and what matters most to you.
Light at Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens
Natural light varies throughout the day. We recommend discussing specific timing based on your ceremony location and time of year.
Time for Photos
We recommend 45-60 minutes for portraits at Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens, covering the ceremony area, reception space, and grounds.
Timeline Strategies
Sunset Portraits
Want that golden hour magic? We work backwards from sunset. Ceremony ends 60-90 minutes before, giving time for family photos, couple portraits, and catching the best light.
Brunch or Daytime
Morning ceremonies and daytime receptions mean lots of beautiful natural light all day. Great for summer when afternoons can get pretty warm.
