About This Estate
Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club
More details Less details
Epping Forest Yacht Club wedding venue is a 1926 estate on the St. Johns River built for industrialist Alfred I. duPont, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Spanish Renaissance architecture, manicured English gardens, and panoramic river views — it's the kind of property where Vanderbilts and presidents once visited, and it still feels that way when you walk in.
We've been shooting here for over a decade, and the grand staircase still stops us every time. The window light wraps around the architectural details in the afternoon and creates portrait conditions we don't get anywhere else. The separate bridal suites keep everyone apart until the first look — and first looks on that staircase are consistently some of the most emotional images we capture all year.
The river terrace facing west over the St. Johns gives us sunset light worth restructuring an entire timeline around. Fall and spring are especially beautiful — soft, even light without the harsh midday Florida sun. We know exactly when to pull the couple away from the reception to catch it.
Photo Locations
The spots we come back to every time.
The Grand Staircase
The interior staircase is where we start almost every celebration here. The light from the windows wraps around couples perfectly, and the Spanish Renaissance details frame the shot without us having to do much. First looks are always emotional.
The English Gardens
Most ceremonies happen here under the old oaks. We position ourselves to get the mansion in the background during the processional—it's the shot that makes people realize this isn't just any location. Late afternoon light filters through the trees beautifully.
The River Terrace
This is where we sneak away during cocktail hour. The St. Johns River reflects the sky, and if you time it right, you'll catch boats passing in the background. Sunset portraits here are worth rearranging the entire timeline for.
The Waterfront Dock
Most couples don't think to go down here, but we always do. Water-level portraits with the clubhouse rising behind you—it's a completely different look from everything else on the property.
The Marina & Courtyard
The courtyard near the boathouse gives us a European-inspired backdrop that feels completely different from the rest of the property. Yachts in the marina add texture to wider shots — it's one of those spots that makes guests say 'where was that taken?'
Planning Your Timeline
We don't publish generic timelines. They're useless without knowing your date. Here's why:
A 5pm ceremony works great in summer. In winter, it means dark portraits. Your timeline must match your actual date and what matters most to you.
Lighting & Golden Hour
The river terrace faces west over the St. Johns River—perfect for sunset portraits. The interior staircase gets beautiful afternoon window light.
Time for Photos
We recommend 60-90 minutes for portraits at Epping Forest Yacht & Country Club, covering the grand staircase, English Gardens, river terrace, and waterfront dock.
Timeline Strategies
Sunset Portraits
Want golden hour magic? We work backwards from sunset. End the ceremony 60-90 minutes before. That gives time for family photos, couple portraits, and the best light.
Brunch or Daytime
Morning ceremonies and daytime receptions mean good natural light all day. Great for summer when afternoons get warm.
