The Tower Suite is a photo location rather than a wedding venue — you don't book a ceremony or a reception here, you book the morning. It sits in Suites 410 & 412 at 24 Cathedral Place in downtown St. Augustine, with 180-degree panoramic views over the city from up top. Amanda Hopcraft, owner and lead stylist of Hopcraft Collective, created the space in 2022 after 24 years in the beauty industry, with hair, makeup, and dressing in mind rather than a generic hotel room.

For a photographer, that distinction is the whole point. A space designed around getting-ready logistics — real lighting at the styling chairs, a separate room for the dress, a layout that isn't fighting a queen bed and a suitcase in the corner — changes what the first hour of wedding-day coverage looks like. What's in the Suite

The Tower Suite has a maximum occupancy of 14 people, not counting service providers, vendors, and staff — worth knowing early if you're picturing a full bridal party plus moms plus a beauty team all in the room at once. The space includes:

• Private elevator access up to the suite
• Multiple hair and makeup stations with professional lighting
• A separate, private dressing area apart from the styling chairs
• A built-in Sonos sound system synced throughout the space
• A powder room, games, and other thoughtful touches
• Complimentary Fiji Water, Spindrift, and paper goods

Outside food is welcome, and the suite helps coordinate orders through catering partners with menus built specifically for brides getting ready. They don't provide or sell alcohol, but a mimosa fixings bar is available for an extra fee if you bring your own bubbly, and an on-site manager is nearby during your rental.

You don't have to be a Hopcraft Collective bride to book the space — you're welcome to bring your own hair and makeup artist, though their office will need a certificate of insurance on file for any outside beauty professional.

What the Space Means for Photos

Professional lighting at the styling stations is the detail that matters most before the camera ever comes out. Getting-ready photos live or die on the light at the mirror — harsh overhead bulbs or dim lamps force a photographer to fight the room instead of using it, so a suite built with real lighting at hair and makeup is doing half the work before coverage even starts.

A separate dressing area is the other piece. It means the "getting into the dress" sequence can happen away from the styling chairs and the general bustle, which tends to produce calmer, less cluttered frames — and it gives a second spot to shoot within the same suite instead of one room serving every purpose.

The 180-degree panoramic views over downtown are the wildcard worth asking about directly: a window with a real skyline behind it can become a portrait backdrop or a quiet detail shot, depending on how the light falls that morning. That light will vary with the season and the hour, so treat it as a strong possibility to plan around rather than a guaranteed shot — worth confirming with the suite and your photographer ahead of time.

Timing Your Coverage

Standard rentals are a 6-hour block, with additional hours available for a fee, and rentals typically begin at 8:00 am (earlier access can be requested). For most St. Augustine weddings with an afternoon or evening ceremony, that lines up well with a typical wedding-day timeline: hair and makeup starting early, photography coverage beginning partway through getting ready, and a first look or ceremony call time still hours away.

Because the suite caps at 14 people before vendors and staff, it's worth mapping out early who actually needs to be in the room for photos — the bridal party, both moms, maybe a grandmother — versus who can join later at the ceremony site. A tighter guest list in the suite also tends to mean a calmer, more photogenic room. That same small-scale setup makes the suite a natural fit for the getting-ready hour of an intimate elopement, too — a proper getting-ready sequence without needing a full wedding-size guest list.

Parking is not included in the rental. Downtown parking is easier earlier in the morning, and the suite points couples to the Park St. Augustine app and the city's parking site for options. For getting from the suite to your ceremony venue, they recommend St. Aug Transportation for hotel pickup and drop-off.

Location, Location, Location

The single biggest practical advantage of shooting here is where the suite sits. It's within walking distance of many of downtown St. Augustine's most-used ceremony and reception venues — Treasury on the Plaza, the Cathedral Basilica, the Governor's House, The White Room, Lightner Museum, the Roosevelt Room, and Casa Monica are all just steps away, with the Pena Peck House and Flagler College nearby too and the River House a short drive.

That walkability can shrink or eliminate the drive-time buffer a lot of St. Augustine timelines have to build in between getting ready and the ceremony — which means more of your rental block can go toward actual coverage instead of transit. The same short walk also puts a handful of downtown outdoor backdrops within reach: the Plaza de la Constitución and the Lightner Museum courtyard are both close by. If your ceremony site is one of the nearby ones, it's worth asking your photographer to walk the route with you ahead of time.
