St. Augustine Engagement Photographer
Relaxed sessions that feel like a date, not a photoshoot—capturing the real moments between you two.
Engagement Sessions in St. Augustine
We capture the relaxed, real moments between you—just you two being yourselves in St. Augustine. Think of it as a practice run for your wedding day, except with way less pressure and way more sunset light.
Our photography style? Natural, lifestyle, fun. We'll guide you through poses and movements, but the goal is capturing how you actually are together—the inside jokes, the way you lean into each other, the real stuff. My approach has always been to let the moment happen and be ready when it does.
Most people book 6-9 months before their wedding. The photos end up everywhere: save-the-dates, wedding website, guest sign-in book, wall art. It's also a chance to get comfortable with us before the big day.

Our Approach to Engagement Photography
We're a husband-and-wife photography team based in St. Augustine, and our approach is simple: make the session feel like a date. No stiff posing, no awkward silence. We give you prompts and movements—walk together, whisper something funny, slow dance—and let the real stuff happen in between. After photographing 500+ sessions across St. Augustine and Jacksonville, we've learned that the best engagement photos come from people who forget the camera is there.
Our editing style leans natural and clean. We want your images to look like you actually look—warm skin tones, real colors, nothing overly filtered. The finished gallery ends up on wedding invitations, framed on walls, and shared with family for years. It should age well and feel forever.
Beyond engagements, we photograph weddings, elopements, and family sessions throughout Northeast Florida. I photograph everything from adventurous elopements at the coast to intimate Florida wedding ceremonies downtown. Many of our engagement clients are also wedding clients—having the same photographer through your whole journey means less stress when the big day arrives and a portrait experience you already know and love. We've been capturing weddings and romantic milestones in St. Augustine since 2010.

Engagement Photography Locations in St. Augustine
St. Augustine engagement sessions work because the city itself is gorgeous—cobblestone alleys, Spanish colonial architecture, live oaks draped in moss, all within walking distance. There's a reason photographers from across Florida come here to shoot weddings and engagements. We'll recommend locations based on your style, the time of year, and the vibe you're going for. We also travel to Ponte Vedra and Amelia Island.
Downtown Historic District
St. George Street, Flagler College, Lightner Museum, the Plaza—Spanish colonial architecture at every turn. You can be surrounded by oak trees and moss, then 100 feet later you're in a romantic cobblestone alley that's hundreds of years old. As we like to say: people ask what our favorite photo location is, and the answer is St. Augustine itself.
Waterfront & Shoreline
St. Augustine Beach, Vilano Beach, Anastasia State Park. Golden hour on the sand never disappoints. The Bayfront and Bridge of Lions are some of the most beautiful spots we've ever photographed in St. Augustine—we try to work them into every downtown session.
Parks & Gardens
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park, Treaty Oak Park, Fountain of Youth. Nature lovers, this is your territory. Lush greenery, secluded spots, and gorgeous light filtering through the canopy. Some of our favorite sessions have been at Washington Oaks—it's only 20 minutes south of St. Augustine.
Nights of Lights (Nov-Jan)
Downtown St. Augustine transforms with millions of white lights during the holiday season. We recommend a mix of before-dark and after-dark shooting—get some with natural sunlight, then stay for the stunning bokeh once the lights come on. Our most requested seasonal option for weddings, engagements, and even family sessions.

Why Book a Florida Wedding Photographer Early
An engagement session is more than a portrait sitting. It's a chance to experience what working with your photographer actually feels like before the wedding. You learn how we direct, how we move through locations, and what our photography process looks like from start to finish. By the time your wedding comes around, we already feel like old friends.
The engagement photos themselves are incredibly useful. Save-the-dates, wedding website headers, guest sign-in prints, wall art for your first home—you'll use these images for years. Many of our Florida wedding clients tell us this experience was the thing that took all the stress out of being photographed. By the time your photographer shows up on the wedding day, you already know what to expect.
When to Book Your St. Augustine Photographer
Ideal timing: 6-9 months before your wedding. This allows time to use the images for save-the-dates and get them printed for your reception.
Season considerations: Spring and fall offer the best light and comfortable temperatures in Florida. November through January brings the Nights of Lights—magical for downtown sessions with millions of white lights as your backdrop. Summer works too, but your photographer will recommend early morning or late evening to avoid the midday heat.
Availability: Our schedule fills up fast during peak wedding season (October through May in Florida). If you're planning a session during Nights of Lights in St. Augustine, book early—those weekends are our most requested dates.
Sessions can be bundled with wedding packages or booked separately. Either way, you'll walk into the ceremony already comfortable with your photographer and confident about being in front of the camera.

What to Expect from Your Photographer
Every session starts with a planning conversation. We talk about your style, your vision, and any locations in St. Augustine you have in mind. From there, we put together a plan that aligns the time of day, the spots we'll visit, and what you'll wear into a cohesive look. We want to understand the vibe you're going for, then build the whole experience around that.
On session day, we handle all the directing. We'll have you walk together, whisper to each other, dance a little—whatever gets you out of your head and into the moment. The goal is authentic, raw emotion, not stiff portrait poses. As a photographer team that has been capturing romantic moments in St. Augustine for 15 years, the one thing we know for certain is that the best images come from people who forget about the camera and just enjoy each other.
After the session, your gallery is typically delivered within two weeks. Every image is individually edited—color-corrected, retouched where needed, and delivered at full resolution. You'll have complete download rights to use them however you want: prints, social media, wedding stationery, or just texting them to your mom. As a professional photographer based in St. Augustine, we've delivered galleries for hundreds of weddings and sessions—we know how to make your images look their best.
Planning a surprise? We also offer hidden photographer coverage to capture the moment you pop the question.
Engagement Session FAQ
Common questions about engagement sessions
Most people book 6-9 months before their wedding. This gives you time to use the images for save-the-dates, wedding websites, and wall art. But there's no wrong time—some book right after getting engaged.
Sessions typically run 30-90 minutes depending on the package. We usually shoot at one or two locations. That's plenty of time to get comfortable, try different spots, and capture a variety of looks.
We'll send you a detailed style guide after booking. General advice: coordinate but don't match exactly, avoid busy patterns, and choose clothes you feel confident in. Bring a change of outfit if you want variety.
Almost everyone says this! We give you prompts and movements—walking, whispering something funny, slow dancing—so you're not just standing there stiffly. By the end, you'll forget the camera is there.
Absolutely. Pets are welcome at outdoor sessions. We've had dogs, cats (on leashes), and even a parrot join us. Just let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Yes! We offer hidden proposal coverage where we blend in and capture the moment. Many people book both—the proposal, then a full session later.
