IIDA Cocktail Couture, 2014.
I don't remember exactly when I started working with the good folks over at IIDA but each year the bring me up to Jacksonville, Florida to photograph their amazing event. The Cocktail Couture is part fashion, part party and part fund raiser with proceeds going to Dignity U Wear, a charity that helps cloth children and families in need.
As the party was winding down last night we decided to have a little fun. This is an image of Becky sporting her giant mushroom umbrella... I am doing something kind of new today in not only showing you the final image... but if you look at the video bolow you can see how it was created. Enjoy!
Here is the making of video. Composited from 3 images in about an hour and half of work.
Throw back Thursday.
Last month I completed my 40th trip around the sun - at least on the outside of the womb. Instead of feeling older, I spent my birthday running through the woods, ducking paint balls that were being fired at my head by a group of Navy guys, arranged by my wife Jill and my buddy Jay [who runs Life and Love Studios with his awesome wife Alison]. Ya, it was as awesome as it sounds.
I have tried not to over-think the big 40, and what it represents - but when I do, I can't help but feel humbled and incredibly grateful. This whole operations runs on the support of my friends and family. Five years ago, I was sitting at a desk in a massive building writing software for a Fortune 10 company - literally a cog in the machine - and when I talked about leaving that job (and steady paycheck) and striking out on my own to do something that I loved, you all believed it would work. No one even hesitated and that has been the best birthday present a guy could ever ask for.
For me, 40 doesn't represent getting old; it represents that it's my time to go and make a difference. That's something I couldn't have done it without your faith and support.
I owe you all a hug and my thanks. Much love.
Yoga sesh.
Over the last couple of years I have accrued a very neat collection of amazing environmental portraits while working with Kate and the girls over at the Bikram Studio here in St. Augustine.
A couple of weeks ago Kate sent me a note and told me she was in the process of updating her website and wanted to use some of our favorite images... after spending a few hours going through and pulling out the ones that fit her criteria I decided it would be a good time to share a few of them here.
I hope you guys can see the tremendous beauty and determination shown by these very strong and flexible yogis. I am looking forward to adding some more to this collection when summer finally makes an appearance.
