FileFlow. FILE AUTOMATION FOR PHOTOGRAPHES AND VIDEOGRAPHERS.
FileFlow
THE EASIEST WAY TO BE SURE YOUR IMAGE FILES ARE SAFE
FileFlow was created to fit perfectly between your SD cards and Lightroom. It automates the import, verification, backup, compression and cleanup of image and video files.
The application started as a collection of batch files with basic copy, duplicate checking, and cleanup functionality. During the pandemic I used some of that downtown to turn that collection of batch files into a single application that could control, monitor, and report the status for each step of the process. FileFlow is now a critical part of my import process.
As the initial user the functionality has been designed around my needs - so if you have a suggestion for a feature that you would like to see added please me know.
FileFlow was created for photographers, videographers, and content creators.
CHANGELOG
October 2024. Decided on a solution to allow users to see the data without cluttering the interface. Detailed by drive information is now stored to the log file and the interface only shows must know information which will work in 99% of all scenarios.
• Threads. Everything is threaded. The issue with the interface being delayed during CPU intensive processes has been resolved.
• Threading is now used for copying files, validating files, and compressing files. Right now the cap is 5 but if testing goes well I would like to move that up to 15 or 20. It doesn’t make files copy faster but the threads queue up and wait in line so while a thread is validating a file another thread can copy their file etc…
• Interface is now much simpler and easier to read.
• Got rid of the in app log for debugging and errors to an error.log and a debug.log. In the rare instance that a critical error causes the app to crash you can see exactly why in the error.og.
• New logic was added to prevent the app from continuing when a critical error is detected (like a lack of hard drive space) and an error message is deployed.
! A request was mode to detect disk space before initiating a copy but I don’t like that solution - if you are importing files while moving or deleting (which is common in high volume studios) the app would not let you proceed - if we hit a critical disk error we stop and let the user determine how to continue.

September 2024. Feedback on the new reporting system is very good. Still working on a way to show all of the data that I want to see without overwhelming the interface with tons of numbers / graphs. Designing the new status / report is complete and now I am working on building it. Hopeful that new version will be ready by end of October 2024. -Rob
August 2024.Officially launching a page for FileFlow as we get closer to public beta. -Rob
July 2024. With the testing completed on verification of movie files I am officially renaming ImageFlow to FileFlow. New interface is still being tested, I would like a solid 60 days of tests before launching. -Rob
ALPHA
Because of the amount of testing needed to ensure we are handing as many conditions as possible FileFlow is currently in invite only pre-beta testing. I am hopeful to launch a public pubild before January of 2025.
If you would like to be invited to the beta email me.
